How do you know if your Arcade electric bike battery needs replacing?
You've been using your Arcade electric bike for some time now, and lately you feel that your machine isn't performing as well as it did when you bought it. While there are many reasons why an electrically-assisted bike might not be performing as well as it used to, a faulty or ageing battery can often be the cause of many problems. Before sending your bike to the workshop, or even considering replacing it, it's a good idea to take a look at the battery.
Here are a few signs that our experts think should lead you to suspect that the battery in your Arcade electric bike is the cause of the problem(s) you're experiencing with your bike.
Decreased autonomy of your Arcade battery
It may seem logical, but the loss of battery life on your Arcade electric bike may not be so obvious, depending on the case. It generally manifests itself in two ways:
-
Firstly, and this is the easiest problem to identify, your velo Arcade battery is no longer fully charged, even after a full charge. Either on the console of your electric bike or on the charge indicator of your battery, if it has one.
-
The second hypothesis is a little trickier to validate. It's quite possible that the charge indicator on your Arcade electric bike battery will appear full after charging, even though the actual range is actually reduced. For example, even with an apparent full charge level, the Arcade bike battery may operate at 60% of its initial range. A charge indicator that drops rapidly during a journey is an excellent indicator of this drop in effective range.
Untimely interruption of electric assistance
There's nothing more frustrating than an assistance system that gives up in the middle of an effort. Even if the assistance returns quickly after the interruption and the problem is not systematic, a faulty battery could well be the cause of the problem. The problem needs to be dealt with quickly, otherwise it could get worse and put you in an uncomfortable situation one day. Nobody wants to find themselves stranded with a bulky bike several dozen kilometres from home.
Lack of power on your Arcade bike
There are several reasons why your electric bike may lose power. An obsolete battery could be one of them. If the battery in your Arcade bike no longer delivers enough power to the motor, it will no longer be able to operate at full capacity
How much does it cost to change the battery on an Arcade electric bike?
The battery is an essential part of your Arcade bike. Changing it represents an investment, although you'll agree that it's much less than buying a new electric bike. So if we can help you avoid buying a new electric bike when it's only the battery that's causing the problems you're experiencing, we'd be delighted!
To replace your velo Arcade battery, expect to pay between €500 and €1,000, depending on the model. If you have any doubts about compatibility, you can check the label on your original battery to get as much information as possible. You can also e-mail us a photo of your bike and we'll tell you which battery is compatible with your Arcade electric bike!
