The Union Nationale de l'Industrie du Vélo has just announced its figures for 2015, and they're very good for electric bikes! Purchases of electric bicycles are continuing to rise and are attracting more and more people.

Sales of electric bikes on the up

Every year, the Union Nationale de l'Industrie du Vélo assesses the development of the bicycle market. In 2015, 100,000 electric bikes were sold, an increase of 15% on the previous year. Of the 100,000 electric bikes sold, 90% were purchased by private individuals and 10% by businesses or local authorities. Individuals are buying far more city bikes (80,000) than mountain bikes (10,000). Whether it's to get to work more quickly or to take a ride in the forest, the electric bike offers the advantage of a fast, environmentally-friendly and sporty means of transport.

Promising prospects thanks to public incentives

Experts agree that the market for electric bikes will continue to grow. All the more so since the purchase of electric bicycles is encouraged by public policies and companies. Many local authorities offer subsidies for the purchase of an electric bike. Doctibike can help you apply for a subsidy. Companies encourage their employees to cycle to work thanks to kilometre-based allowances.
